MMN Week 15 11/14/16

Monday Music Notes – 11/13/16

Please join me in congratulating your 2016 Mustang Marching Band!

Sadly, Our season has come to an end. But before closing the book, This group of young men and women represented our entire school this past Saturday with class and a competitive spirit by placing fifth at the 2016 FMBC State Marching Band Championships!

The Marching Band has earned a spot in Finals for an incredible 6 years in a row now, and 10 of the last 12 years, a remarkable feat unmatched by any school in Manatee County or the Suncoast! It places them among the elite high school programs in the history of the state. They also won the prestigious award for Best Music in class 4A (an assessment of the total music presentation) in semifinals, posting the highest music score in their class and the second highest music score of any band in both 4A and 5A!!! Our Color Guard and Percussion sections also earned great scores. Phenomenal achievements - I am proud and thankful for everything our fine Marching Program has become.

Of course none of our success would be possible without the tireless support of our Band Booster Organization LRBBA, Mustang Ranch Hands, Chaperones and Staff. Our Green Machine is a force to be Reckoned with!!! I am confident MMB 2017 will continue the momentum and legacy of all of the great LRMMBands that have paved the way! Our seniors have set the tone - the future is in great hands with the classes of 2018-20! THANK YOU to EVERYONE involved! I will never forget you or our journey.

Concert, Jazz and Solo/Ensemble Season are in full swing!

Sharpen your pencil, get the metronome and tuner ready – I expect determination and work ethic in these disciplines as we transition into the next phase of our year.

FORMAL WEAR FOR our young men has arrived and will be passed out tomorrow in 3rd and 5th period!

Our first concert is exactly one month away!!

The Boston Crusaders are here this weekend!

Over 250 prospective members will descend upon the LRHS campus this weekend as they audition to be a part of the 2017 Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps. Come experience the weekend as an observer or participant. I will send out a message specifically related in the coming days!

PLEASE register for the Spring Trip. IT IS NOT TOO LATE!!!!.

A LOT of work went into making it short enough to allow for a FULL spring break, but long enough to offer variety and FUN for everyone in the band program. Parents, if you have ANY questions, please contact trip coordinator Leslee Odell:

We have proven that travel is a great way to celebrate and expand the image of Lakewood Ranch Bands; let’s take advantage of this great opportunity in March 2017!

The details listed above are there for you so that your band experience can be POSITIVE and ORGANIZED. YOU are responsible for everything outlined in the MMN. Help us ALL have a great year by taking care of YOUR personal needs and by being ACCOUNTABLE for the guidelines of the LRHS Band Program.

Your director and staff work hard for you because we BELIEVE in YOU!

System + Spirit = SUCCESS!
