Monday Music Notes – 10/25/16

In this week’s MMN…… Homecoming Week 2016!!!

Bravo Marching Mustangs! Congratulations and thank you to everyone in the MMB family for all that you do to support my vision for the program. We aren’t even close to the magic ensemble that we will be by states, but I congratulate you for your efforts thus far; Friday night – over 300 musicians on the field for Middle School Band night and an incredible run that set up an incredible Saturday; FBA Marching MPA – STRAIGHT Superior Rating. Braden River FMBC Regional – GRAND CHAMPION!!!

I told you could do it, I believe in you and your potential to be the best! Your score of 87.1 is currently the highest score in the state of Florida for any 4A Band! We have achieved BLOCK score status for the second year in a row, and are now guaranteed to go on second to last at the 4A Semifinals in the Tropicana Dome! Most importantly, we took care of the little things: on time for all departure and arrivals, cooperation around the trailer (a record 15 minutes to unload the trailers – our Ranch Hands, Chaperones and Travel Captains are INCREDIBLE), and a CLEAN band room/200 building at the end of a demanding weekend. I love the standard of excellence that we maintain Mustangs! I love being your band director.

I need your dedication and commitment to make our run to States go Smoothly and Productively. Please continue to sleep well, eat healthy and Hydrate! Count on significant outside time and almost always moving and playing. Take care of your chops! Water bottles, bug spray and DRILL SHIRTS!!

LRHS MMB Home Game Expectations……In The Stands

Mr. Lambert’s policy for stands tunes is Everybody, All the Time.

Let’s max that standard out! We are the example for other students to follow. If we are lively the Student section will be too! Remember WE are there to support the TEAM and cheer them on. SPIRIT means Awesomeness and Excellence, not chaos.

Have your music ready at a moment's notice. You are responsible for your instrument at all times. Stand in front of the seats while cheering. When it is time to play, stand on the seats with equal spacing between you with all bells focused in the same direction. When the Drumline plays a cadence, DANCE!

Third Quarter Break

It is our tradition (home and away) to allow you to take a break during the third quarter to get a drink and something to eat, so bring money. You must return to our stands ASAP after visiting the concession, rest rooms and supporting the Drumline show. Drum-Offs STOP before there are 4-minutes remaining in the 3rd Quarter so that we can be SET to play The Horse on the downbeat of the 4th Quarter. No ifs, ands or buts. Anyone not ready to play on time will lose next week’s 3rd Quarter privilege.

After The Game

Once the football team is ready, they come over to our section and we play the Alma Mater to/for them. Afterwards, we form the tunnel on the track, march back in 2s and assemble in arcs at the flagpoles. There shall be NO horse-play here! Your safety crossing the road is Priority # 1! You will be dismissed after final announcements. The Band Room must be left Monday-Morning clean!

There is a 30-minute pick-up window for rides after the band is dismissed. Please have your rides coordinated so that you are not the only one left late into the night. Parents can plan to pick you up at approximately 11:00pm. Band members are never released early (unless there is bad weather and the game is called).

The details listed above are there for you so that your band experience can be POSITIVE and ORGANIZED. YOU are responsible for everything outlined in the MMN. Help us ALL have a great year by taking care of YOUR personal needs and by being ACCOUNTABLE for the guidelines of the LRHS Band Program.

Your director and staff work hard for you because we BELIEVE in YOU!
