Monday Music Notes – 10/17/16

In this week’s MMN…… Working Hard to BECOME the absolute best LRHS Mustang Bands we can BE! This is a week full of performance and excitement for our Mustangs!

We Have a Monday FUNdraiser (participate in all of them to offset the costs for your March Band Trip!), Normally scheduled rehearsals for the Marching Band (Tu/W/Th), a HOME GAME featuring an open invitation to any and ALL LRHS band kids and well over 100 Middle School kids to JAM in the STANDS because Friday is MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND NIGHT 2017! It doesn’t end there: Saturday we will embark upon a mini-tour participating in our FBA Music Performance Assessment in Kissimmee FL in the early afternoon and the Braden River FMBC regional in the evening! I am very sorry that ACT/SAT kids will have to miss the first half of the day Saturday.

As you know, we have to go to Kissimmee because of our conflicting Home MPS and the Homecoming Dance. I tried everything I could to find a county that had an MPA early enough for us to make it back in time for our second competition, and our boosters begged to keep the double-header away from our Music In Motion day (November 5th). District 10 was the only choice. When I told them we had kids testing, They did their best to accommodate us with the LAST and latest performance slot, but that is 1:30pm. It is not feasible or safe for you to attempt to make it an hour-forty-five minutes distance in less than an hour. Count on a great performance on Saturday night.

Report time for those students will be 6:00pm at LRHS BandRoom for Dress out and Inspection. We will have to take your equipment on the buses because the trailers will already be at Braden River HS.

LRHS MMB Home Game Expectations……

In The Stands

Mr. Lambert’s policy for stands tunes is Everybody, All the Time.

Let’s max that standard out! We are the example for other students to follow. If we are lively the Student section will be too! Remember WE are there to support the TEAM and cheer them on. SPIRIT means Awesomeness and Excellence, not chaos.

Have your music ready at a moment's notice. You are responsible for your instrument at all times. Stand in front of the seats while cheering. When it is time to play, stand on the seats with equal spacing between you with all bells focused in the same direction. When the Drumline plays a cadence, DANCE!

Third Quarter Break

It is our tradition (home and away) to allow you to take a break during the third quarter to get a drink and something to eat, so bring money. You must return to our stands ASAP after visiting the concession, rest rooms and supporting the Drumline show. Drum-Offs STOP before there are 4-minutes remaining in the 3rd Quarter so that we can be SET to play The Horse on the downbeat of the 4th Quarter. No ifs, ands or buts. Anyone not ready to play on time will lose next week’s 3rd Quarter privilege.

After The Game

Once the football team is ready, they come over to our section and we play the Alma Mater to/for them. Afterwards, we form the tunnel on the track, march back in 2s and assemble in arcs at the flagpoles. There shall be NO horse-play here! Your safety crossing the road is Priority # 1! You will be dismissed after final announcements. The Band Room must be left Monday-Morning clean!

There is a 30-minute pick-up window for rides after the band is dismissed. Please have your rides coordinated so that you are not the only one left late into the night. Parents can plan to pick you up at approximately 10:30pm. Band members are never released early (unless there is bad weather and the game is called).

The details listed above are there for you so that your band experience can be POSITIVE and ORGANIZED. YOU are responsible for everything outlined in the MMN. Help us ALL have a great year by taking care of YOUR personal needs and by being ACCOUNTABLE for the guidelines of the LRHS Band Program.

Your director and staff work hard for you because we BELIEVE in YOU!

System + Spirit = SUCCESS!

The Best and Brightest Kids are Mustang Band Kids!

Great Grades make the music possible.
